Students Try to Steal Giant Pepper From Chili’s Rooftop

Bennington, Vermont - Triggered by an alarm, cops arrived at the Chili’s in Bennington, Vt., around 4:30 a.m. to find Asher Woodworth, 23, on the roof. He had been removing the bolts that held the red and green chili pepper in place with a hacksaw and a power drill. Police found 470 feet of extension cord running from a nearby Home Depot, across a highway and up to the roof to power the electric drill. Apparently, the heist’s mastermind failed to realize they make cordless drills....

Stupid Crooks steal fake cell phones in Mexico

MORELIA, Mexico – Call it the case of the dead cells — both telephones and the ones in the brain. Employees at a Telefonica Movistar cell-phone store in Morelia, Mexico say they arrived Tuesday morning to find that the store had been broken into.

An examination of the shop revealed the only items missing were hollow replica phones for display that are completely useless for making calls.

Employees say the clueless thieves overlooked real cell phones and cash in another part of the shop.

Store owners nonetheless reported the theft to local police, who are investigating.

Cops: Man tries to steal laptop to check Facebook

BRADENTON, Fla. – Sheriff's officers said a 19-year-old man snatched a Starbucks customers laptop after being told he could not use it to check his Facebook account. According to officers, the man then grabbed the customer's laptop and ran out of the coffee shop, located in an outlet mall.

Two people in the parking lot tackled the man and held him there until a mall security guard arrived.

The victim got his laptop back and the man was charged Saturday with robbery by sudden snatching, a felony.

Stupid News-Thieves steal dinosaur dung

London - Thieves stole a lump of fossilised dinosaur dung from London's Natural History Museum, it was revealed today.
According to a list of specimens stolen or lost from the museum's collection over the past five years, the 65-million-year-old piece of dung, or coprolite, measuring about 7.5cm, was stolen while it was secured in a clamp on display in 2006. More...
